Reviews
I am awarding VLC 5 stars out of 5 because of its ease of use and simple navigation features. VLC is a useful program to have installed on student desktops to play various media. It gives you the convenience of using a single interface to play audio and video files. It is compatible with almost all types of video and audio formats. With so many various types of instructional media used in a classroom setting, this an ideal program for students to use.
VLC has been a lifesaver in my lower elementary classroom, especially in my reading center. Before installing VLC, I had multiple media players such as iTunes, iMovie, and Windows Media Player. Teaching students how to get their media to play on each of these different programs was very time consuming. After installing VLC, students only had to learn how to use one program. The consistency of having the same media player on all computers, pc or mac, made it much easier for students to use. Now, my students use VLC on our Macs and PC's to play audio books on cd and online, dvd's, and movies.
Installing VLC was simple, I had no issues. It was a typical mac install where you drag the icon into the Applications Folder.
