Add Software Project

We look forward to having your software listed on our website. Here are a few things that we look at when reviewing software to determine if it is appropriate for our website.

  • Does it meet this definition of free software?
  • Is it ready for production? We are trying to provide access to tools and software that is user friendly.
  • If it is still in an alpha or beta state, this probably isn't the place to list your project. You are, however, invited to share your project ideas with our discussion group.
  • Does it meet some need in an educational environment?

An example of something that doesn't meet our criteria would be a 'web based service,' which users register for and can use at no cost. This is because the user is beholden to the whims and business interests of the service operator, and does not have the freedoms outlined here.

Sounds good, let's add some software!

  1. Create a user account or login
  2. Once logged in, click the "Add Software Project" link within the "My Content" section. Or, if you're ready now, and logged-in, you can click here and go directly to the "Create Software" Page.
  3. Complete the form and submit. Your software will be reviewed!

Your project is also welcomed...

If you have software that meets our criteria, you should consider joining the SchoolForge coalition. Most of what we ask is that you monitor our discuss list to listen and participate with the community. Quite a few of the projects listed on our website are represented by their respective leaders on our discuss list - and utilize it to share ideas and avoiding duplicating efforts.

To apply to the SchoolForge coalition:

  1. Create a user account or login
  2. Once logged in, click the "Join SchoolForge Coalition" link within the "My Content" section.
  3. Complete the form and submit. Your application will be reviewed!

To join the SchoolForge discussion group (email based), send an e-mail message to majordomo@schoolforge.net with no subject and a body of "subscribe schoolforge-discuss".
